Commonly Asked Questions & Answers
FAQ's for Embroidery Magic |
| Q.
|
I have installed Embroidery Magic on my computer and
the program is to large for my screen. I am unable to click on any buttons to get me out.
What can I do? |
| A. |
With all the different computer
manufactures having different screen settings it's impossible to create a program that
matches them all. Embroidery Magic needs the computer Windows settings to be 800 x 600
pixels. |
| Q. |
When I go to run the program it asks me to insert
the CD, but the CD is already in the CD ROM drive. What needs to be done? |
| A. |
We have found that Embroidery Magic has problems
running on computers that have partitioned hard drives and computers that have two CD ROM
drives. We have created a download on the web site that will fix this problem. We
apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause. - download below - |
| Q. |
When I select a design and move it, small stitches
are being left behind. Also when I select a design and choose real view a checkered board
comes up. What's the problem? |
| A. |
If you are having these problems try changing your
System fonts from the Control Panel from large to small. This will not effect anything on
your computer and should fix the problem? |
| Q. |
Is there a way to turn off the screen that has the
blue smoke and comes up with the three icons - Design, Install and Tutorial? This screen
appears every time I go to start the program and is really time consuming. |
| A. |
With the CD acting as our security device
every time the CD is inserted a title screen is created with the lamp and smoke. Some computers take
longer than others to load this screen and it can become quit time consuming. After
choosing the three icons and installing Embroidery Magic you do not have to view this
screen anymore. Follow these easy steps if wanting the "auto run" feature to be
temporary disabled. |
| Tip |
When inserting the CD press the SHIFT key and keep it
held down until the computer no longer is trying to access the CD. This should help in
most cases.
|
| Q. |
Can the Tutorial be printed from the program? |
| A. |
No the Tutorial can not be printed from the program.
We now have the Tutorial on this web page to be downloaded and it can be printed at your
convenience.- see below |
| Q. |
Can additional lettering styles be purchased for
Embroidery Magic? |
| A. |
Yes. There are 78 additional lettering styles that
can be purchased. The lettering styles are broken into 16 packages with three styles per
pack. See them all here - http://www.threadartist.com/embroidery-magic.htm |
| Q. |
What is Embroidery Magic customizing/lettering software
& how can I use it ?Will Embroidery Magic work with my embroidery
machine? |
| A. |
Embroidery
Magic is a stand alone program and can be use with any home
machine software that can be converted by any conversion
program that reads Tajima (dst.) and writes in a machine format
that you can use with your machine. If your embroidery software
can read the DST format or if you have a program that
allows you to convert formats to the format your embroidery machine uses than, Embroidery
Magic will work for you. We also have the url for a good and free
embroidery conversion program that you can download. |

From: Customer who lost her lion -
Question -
>I just got my Embroidery Magic and goofed up the lion,
wildani1007.dst....... how do I restore it to the original without
reinstalling the program and can I delete hoop settings or are they always
going to show up. I am having trouble getting the size I want.... Sue
My Answer -
Hi Sue,
To restore the original
design - you just need to get it again from the
CD, Go to - File/open/look-in = your CD drive/designs/select/select - where
you select the design by # -this should get it directly from the CD not from
your database or from saved files on you computer. You can not alter the
design files that are actually on the CD - you can only alter the copies of
the files from the CD and these altered files are then saved in the database
or on your computer and these are the files that can be lost or changed
permanently. Be sure to do a "save as" with a slightly different name often
and then you can go back to one of these previous versions when ever you
want or need to- in case of a goof-up. This can be done with each major
change and then when finished you can always go back and delete them to
re-gain disk space later.
On the hoop setting - You can just un-check the hoop selection and it
will no longer be displayed. You can have 10 different hoops sizes
programmed in - and then select from any or not select any at all.

This software is is an affordable way to increase your lettering & customizing
capabilities regardless of the brand of sewing/embroidery equipment you own. The software
CD includes:
6 lettering fonts + 1 designer font + 3 more extra fonts* (if you buy now & register
the software) -
325 stock designs
Customize your machine's hoop size by typing in the measurements! Own multiple machine
brands? - there are 10 hoop "spaces" available! You'll always know if your
design fits!
Lettering--you set the size, degree of arcing, density, use auto or manually set the
spacing from 0 to any desired. Change the slant of each letter character or the whole
line! There are 48 additional font styles available on disks in sets of 3 pre-selected
styles--or you can purchase the entire set at a special price. (See below)
Embroidery Magic currently reads the .pes & .pcs home formats and several commercial
formats including .dst--the most familiar to home users. If you have a conversion
program--there are free ones available -- EM is compatible with ANY brand home sewing equipment!
Here's 6 steps to help you understand how EM is used.
We've used the Janome/New Home file extension as an example:
1--Open any .sew file in any conversion program & convert to .dst.
2--Import the .dst file into Embroidery Magic.
3--Customize--add or remove design parts--or add lettering. Embroidery Magic will resize,
but not by more than 5-10%. ( It WILL NOT re-calculate stitches). View the design in
"Actual View" right down to the fabric type & color!
4--When finished just "Save As" with a new file name in your design folder.
5--Open the file in Buzz Tools & convert to .sew.
6--Your customized design is now ready to sew!
(If you own other brand equipment than .sew the process is the same.)

First
time users this may help you get started |
To: Everyone who has asked for help
with Embroidery Magic
I am not an absolute expert with using this
program however I have used it quite successfully for an number of
designs. The instructions I am giving include all measurements in
cm. I will incorporate including designs within the lettering.
If you are just using lettering skip step one.
Once the program is running,
complete the following steps.
1. Click on file, and press open to select the desired design.
2. Click on the A tab on the left hand side of the display , followed by
clicking on the position where you want the middle of the text to be
located. This will open the text screen.
3. Select the desired font. At the bottom of the screen all the
available characters are displayed. If you click on a particular
character the way of getting that letter is displayed. This is quite
helpful for the letters including accents.
4. Type in the desired text. If you hear a ping the letter you typed
is not available in that particular font.
5. Deciding on settings.
Letter space - this varies for capital letters probably more
than .1 cm , for script you want overlap the spacing will be
slightly negative, -.03 to- .1 cm depending on the size of your
letters and the desired overlap.
Line spacing - this is the height between line of text, it must be greater
than the height of your text unless you want your lines of text to
overlap.
This is the spacing between the capital letter and the lower case
letters or I believe between the letters when you are monogramming.
I'm not certain on this issue.
Click the appropriate style straight line or arch. Set the size by
decreasing or increasing the radius of the arch.
I usually have used
a stitch density of about 25 rows/cm Columns and letter width both set at
100% . These with effect the width of the actual letters. Feel
free to change these to get the
affect that you are after. The angle actually causes the letters to become
slanted.
The letters can be produced in a variety of sizes, the size that the
particular font was digitized at is presented for each font as it is
selected.
The top row allows you to choose the lettering
size for normal lettering. If you are making a 3 letter
monogram you can make each letter a different size. Try this for
yourselves. you are limited to 3 letters in this case.
The preview screen at the top gives an idea of what a sample might look
like, using their letters.
6. Now you are done click, OK.
7. The main screen will appear with the design and lettering. If you
are not satisfied with the lettering click on text properties and the text
screen will reopen. Make any changes and click OK.
8. When you are satisfied click save as and it is probably best to
choose tajima format to save your design.
9. Exit the program, or go and make a new design.
Your settings are saved as you used them. Keep this in mind if you are
changing the font you will want to vary the spacing in particular.
Hopefully this information is useful to some of you.
Feel free to contact me for further help.
