How to Expand your designs options for
your shaded embroidery designs
My newest sets are perfect examples of the wonderful effects
you can achieve with the use of color! My tester and I found
that the exotic birds looked lovely in every color we stitched
them in. At one point, both of us had over 100 cones of
thread colors surrounding our machines! In addition, the
color exchanges made the birds look entirely different which
makes each one appear to be an entirely different design.
Believe me, there were hardly any combination of colors
that we didn't try!
Since the exotic birds are multiple shades [color over color]
the entire look can be changed by simply switching the color
under with the color over it. Another alternative is to
change the underlying color which will change the appearance
of the top color and vice versa! Try orange over yellow,
green over blue, fuchsia over navy, etc. The results will
take your breath away!
While some design themes may need a close color match, there
are so many designs, like my exotic birds, that could be
made to look like works of art, by a simple color change/s
and make an ordinary design a master piece that will attract
the attention of almost everyone. After all was said
and done, we started thinking of ways to use these beautiful
birds! The first thing that came to mind were pillows and
wall hangings, the good old standbys!
Then we thought, "no, these are too special" and deserve
to be displayed in a more exciting way. I glanced over at
the folding room divider my daughter had given me to display
the grandchildren's pictures and it was as though a light
bulb had been turned on! We've all seen the dividers
with gathered fabric on tension rods, but as we all know
these are dust catchers! The dividers made for pictures
are a perfect way to display those special embroidery "pictures"
without worrying about the dust. My exotic birds were created
to have depth but are not thick or dense, making them perfect
to put behind glass, with or with-out a mat! Take a moment
to download the sample and take the mere 11+ minutes* to
stitch it out - you'll see at a glance all the possibilities!
