These directions are the same whether you are downloading
freebies or purchased designs which are available for direct
download. The only difference you will see is that you can download
a freebie immediately, while you may have to wait for a code
for a purchased design.
TO DOWNLOAD DESIGN SETS:
-
~ Click on the image or file name,
depending on the site set up.

~ A "File Download" pop-up screen
will appear. It will ask the question: "What would you like
to do with this file?". You will be given 2 choices: 1)
"Open this file from its current location." or 2) "Save
this file to disk."

~ Insert a 3.5 diskette into your
floppy drive and choose 2) "Save this file to disk." option.

~ The pop-up screen "Save As" will
appear. This is when you will direct the design where to
go. You need to choose the 3 1/2 Floppy (A) option. The
file name given the design by the designer will be in the
box by "File name:". Click "Save". The process should not
take more than a couple of minutes, depending on the design
size.
You will see a pop-up screen called "File Download" with
a "ribbon" which will show the progress of the download.
When the ribbon has filled with blue the download is complete.
Another pop-up box will appear stating: "Download complete".
Click "OK" to finish.

~ Open "Windows Explorer" on your
computer. Click on "3 1/2 Floppy drive (A)". If your download
was successful you will see the file name and icon of the
downloaded design.
HOW TO OPEN Thread Artist ZIPPED
FILES:

Open Windows Explorer. Click
on the 3 1/2 Floppy (A): to highlight as
shown here.
On the right screen you will note the
design set "#23 Wild Violets" title.
Your computer screen will appear with slightly
different folder & file titles, depending
on the files your computer contains.

Double click on the zipped design file on the right screen.
A pop-up will appear as seen below with a message from TAD or other
designer.
Click "OK" (as below)

| After clicking
"Unzip", you will then get the message indicating the number
of files successfully unzipped. |

Click on "C" drive on the left screen.
Click on the "+" sign to the left of "C" to
expand the contents.
The
contents of C drive will appear on the right
screen. Scroll down until you see the
"TADesign" folder.
Click
on the folder to make it appear on the left
screen. You will see a "+" sign to the
left of the TADesign folder. Click on
it to expand the folder.

Next -
Click on the "TADesign" folder
to highlight it. You will then see the 2 (or more)
zipped files containing different formats on the right screen.
(as above) - Choose the format you need and double click
on it. You will then see the same pop-up screen that you saw
previously named "Winzip Self Extractor" & our welcome message.

all the files have been extracted you will see the
message here > that the specified number of files
have been successfully unzipped. > Click "OK", then
click "Close" > |

NOW - Go to the left screen and click on the "+" sign to the left
of the TADesign folder. This will show the actual design folder.
Click on the design folder and the design files will show on the
right screen. You may now double click on the file you
wish to open in your sewing software or close Windows Explorer,
open your sewing software and proceed as usual. You
will need to follow the path to locate the design folder,
by first clicking on C drive, then TADesign, then the design folder.
Double click on the design file to open it. |
